The Christmas Quilt – and Quilts of Love

My newest release, The Christmas Quilt, is a part of the Quilts of Love series.

The books in this series began releasing in October of last year. My book is #11 in the series. The interesting thing about this group of books is that they are from different genres and by different authors.

There’s contemporary fiction, historical fiction, Amish fiction, mystery, and women’s fiction. There’s a nice variety. You don’t have to read them in any particular order because they have different settings and different characters.

So what makes them a series? They’re all about quilts. the tag line for this series is “Every Quilt has a story.” I think that’s true. Don’t you? If you were to point at any of the quilts in my house, and I only have a few, and ask me about its origin … you’d get a story. In my case you’d get a story about my grandmother, and her grandmother. The only quilts I have come from my father’s side of the family–the Pennsylvania German side. Amish? I don’t know. I’m still delving into my family history.

Quilts tell stories of love and loss, hope and faith, tradition and new beginnings.

Each book in this series is a book that is from the heart, is Christian fiction, and centers around the making of a quilt.

When I was asked to write one of the books for the series, my mind quickly returned to Annie and Samuel–to the first Amish story I had published, A Simple Amish Christmas. There was so much I still wanted to tell about that family, and it was possible that I could tell it through the making of a quilt.

So I set to work. And as I learned more about quilting, and delved back into Annie’s life, I found that the quilt she was making coincided perfectly with the gifts of the spirit we find in Galatians, chapter 5. I found that even in the midst of their trials, Annie and Leah were bound together by their love for one another, their love of quilting, and the stories of the people around them–stories of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
