New York Times Bestseller

May and June have been full of surprises. First of all, my latest Love Inspired release, An Amish Widow’s New Love, hit the New York Times Bestseller list. That was a first for me! I’ve hit the USA Today Bestseller list a few times and the Publishers Weekly Bestseller list often. The NYT list is a bit harder to land on, and I felt super honored to have finally “made it.” My publisher sent tulips! Who knew that tulips were so fragrant and beautiful?

Then, last week, our small town’s newspaper ran a feature on me. Isn’t the picture about a lovely heading? The article is behind a paywall, but I can assure you they said nice things. 51 books in 15 years. Yikes. That does sound like a lot.

I’m focusing on completing a women’s fiction book this summer, and I’m happy to say the writing is going well … even with that pesky voice “wondering if anyone will want to read it.” My readers have faithfully followed me as I meandered through Amish romance, Christian romance, Christian suspense, clean romantic suspense, mainstream dystopian, mainstream thrillers, and cozy mysteries. What’s one more genre? Y’all are willing to try that. Right?

In August I go back to teaching full time (there’s a long story to explain that), and I’ll slow down a little in the writing department. I hope to finish the next book during the 2025-2026 school year, and it looks like it will be in one of my previous genres. But I’m not telling which one yet. I will tell you it’s going to be fun. In the meantime, have you signed up for my newsletters? I have 51 books in my backlist, and there’s always something on sale. Click the newsletter button to the right, fill in your email address, and you’ll receive an email with a link to a free book. If you’re already a subscriber, thank you! You’re the voice in my head that says, “Of course we’ll read it.”

  1. I’ve read 15 in 6 years and 6 on my TBR list, maybe I’ll get them all in 15 years! The Shipshewana series were my first. I was hooked on the wittiness, the surprise who dun it,the family troupe and the hit of romance!

  2. As a retired teacher myself, I can appreciate how you’ll have less time to write during the school year. Thank you for the many, many books you’ve written; I’ve read many of them. The bag you made from scraps is lovely and useful! How many books will fit in there?

  3. Congrats on the best seller list and being acknowledged locally too. You are so talented and so kind as well. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

  4. I don’t think you need to worry about no one wanting to read your books! Your readers love them. Love the tote bag too. Inspires me to start going thru my stash too!!

  9. Hi, I sure hope you are having a terrific summer! I finally get to attend my first writing retreat, and I thought of you first, how you have encouraged budding writers to find retreats and attend. I love that tote bag too and can make it almost exactly as pictured with my fabric stash. Thanks for your newsletter and congrats on the NY Times Bestseller List, but I am NOT surprised! Love your book series! GOD bless you !!!

  10. I love the quilted tote bag you made! You could sell those if you had a mind to@ i love your books and have enjoyed all the books I have read, which are a lot@

  11. Hi! I saw a picture of you where you were holding your purple glasses and your hair was all curly and with your smile, you seemed to say , “I still have some ideas and things I want to write about.” But, it was in a playful kind of way. THAT picture is who I pictured writes all these neat books with characters with flair and unexpected plot twists! So glad your old picture is gone. It so didn’t match what you write.

Is it possible that you would want to write more of your “Dead” series, using some of the characters from previous books like you used the Bishop and his new wife? I believe that is my favorite series, the one about the Bishop because of how you marry their Spiritual beliefs with how they live their lives. When you combined “Dead” and “Bishop”, that was my favorite of all!

Thanks for writing so many books because I have read the ones I can find several times because I enjoy them and I enjoy reading a lot.
