Things I Love About Texas

If you’ve been to Texas, raise your hand.

I am sure that every person thinks THEIR state is the best state. It’s good to love where you’re from. Right? I’m actually from California, but I’ve been in Texas a very long time. This month I thought I’d share a list of what I love about the Lone Star State, beginning with the pictures above.

  • The rivers
  • The still wild places
  • Our long, long sunsets
  • The people
  • That we still have so many horses
  • Wildflowers
  • Pecan trees
  • Our Gulf Coast
  • Small towns
  • Fun, exciting cities
  • The beach
  • How big everything is in Texas!
  • Dirt roads
  • The Hill Country
  • The mountains
  • Our state bird — the mockingbird
  • Street dances
  • Rodeos
  • Friday Night Lights (high school football)
  • Our wildlife (I’ve seen bear, deer, javelinas, jack rabbits & more!)

I could go on and on. But it’s your turn. Leave me a comment with 3 things you love about YOUR state. I’d love to hear from you!

Ohio is my state. I appreciate that by the time hurricane winds arrive here in Ohio that they have mellowed down in strength and we usually don’t get the damage from high winds and flooding.
I love living near Cincinnati .
      I love the Cincinnati Reds.
      I love the Cincinnati Bengals.
      Love the Ohio River.
Love that we don’t get a whole lot of winter here.
Love having Kentucky as our neighbor.

    1. The Natural Beauty Arkansas scenery can’t be beat. Arkansas contains over 600,000 acres of lakes and 9,700 miles of streams and rivers— it’s obvious why Arkansas is called The Natural State.
    2. Arkansas is the only state with an active diamonds mine where you can hunt for and keeping anything you find. Great family outing!
    3. And my little part of the state is also the Folk Music Capital of the World. The music and the beauty of this small town is why we made this our home and built our forever home.
And just for an added thought –
    4. Sam Walton founded opened the first Wal-Mart store in Rogers, Arkansas. And Arkansas is still their headquarters. Who doesn’t love Wal-Mart. And Arkansas is where Dairy Queen started.

    – always feelling like I’m on vacation

I agree Texas is a great state. Our favorite place there is Big Bend. I live in Indiana. It has great variety of terrain – cliffs and hills a in the south and rolling farm fields in the north. Our changing seasons is a positive except for spring tornadoes. Falls in Indiana are lovely. There are lots of small towns, but cities are close enough for shopping. 🙂

  19. Tamara Griffin on April 5, 2024 at 8:59 am

I love the pledge and respect we have for the American flag and Texas flag. Also, the stars are bright in the state of Texas (referencing the eclipse) 😊

I live in New York and the Adirondack mountains are so beautiful. Also all the rural areas in Upstate New York.

  24. Laura Bassett on April 5, 2024 at 1:52 pm

We now live in S. Indiana. In the Ohio Valley. The weather here tends to swing like a pendulum. One thing it is not is boring. This area knows how to storm! And I love a good thunder and lightning storm! Though not the tornadoes. We do get snow but thankfully not much. And I love the changing of the leaves in the fall. Beautiful.

I really love my city, Córdoba, located right in the centre of Argentina. It is plenty of lakes, rivers, towns, hills, and turistic places full of History! What I love the most is the amount of trekking activities we can do, and a lot of competitions in the water or running in the mountains! I live in the city but I have a beautiful view of the mountains and I’m really close to them 🙂

I’m a Native Texan and love the property in Central Texas that has been in our family since 1879, that the land hasn’t changed much since I would visit my grandmother and the flowers she planted 80 years ago still bloom voluntarily, and the blue bonnets.
