I received a study from my editor this week. I wish I could post the entire thing here! The main point of the study was the steady rise in readership of Amish fiction, and what draws readers to the genre as a whole. As a genre it’s been going strong for more than 15 years. So what gives?
In a word, many of us crave SIMPLICITY.
We want to SIMPLIFY our lives, and when we look at the Amish we see a culture that has managed to do that while living in the middle of America.
Of course anyone who has read an Amish book knows that it’s much more than that, and the study goes into further detail. But this jumped out at me, perhaps because I too need to slow down, take a deep breath, and SMOOTH out the complicated areas of my life. Already I’m learning much from my Amish research.
How about you? Thinking about SIMPLIFYING anything?
