Readers frequently comment on how peaceful the Amish seem, how they 
appear to have mastered this thing that stumps many of us–fighting against or submitting to Gotte’s wille.
Is God’s will a set of orders that have been handed down from our commanding officer? And if the Amish SEEM to have an easier time accepting what comes their way, is it because they haven’t grown up in a competitive, claw-your-way-to-the-top culture?
Seems we all struggle against the circumstances of our lives at times–whether we’re Amish or Englisch. Maybe as we embark on a new year, the only way to grow more comfortable with our circumstances is to become closer to our commanding officer. Happy 2011 …
