Why We Care … Amish Life

A few weeks ago I asked you some questions. I believe it was while I was running a contest. (Sounds like me. Right?) One of the questions was WHY did you care about the Amish? WHAT was it that interested you the most about them? WHY do you read their stories?

The answers were interesting. My sweet assistant, Miss Kristy, compiled your replies, and the top five answers were —

1. Faith in God
2. Simplicity
3. Closeness of family
4. Sense of community

We had 153 answers, and some of you listed several things … it’s hard to choose one! These 4 were mentioned by 114 of you. Nice. I have to agree. As I write, the items above come to mind again and again.

I also have to agree with those of you who mentioned fresh-baked bread and hard work and honesty. I think what stands out the most to me is that each of these answers could describe my parents and my grandparents perfectly. I hope that one day, my children say the same about me.
