Change

Ah, change. Some people love it. Other people hate it. I’m a bit of both. I do get excited by change, but it can be scary sometimes.
On April 1, An Amish Widow’s New Love released. It should be on shelves the rest of the month–wherever you purchase books, and of course through online retailers.
Which brings us to the “change” portion of this blog. For the foreseeable future, that will be my final Amish romance book. I’ve turned down another contract with Love Inspired for a variety of reasons. They’ve been wonderful to work with, and I appreciate the time I’ve spent writing for them…
However, sometimes you know it’s time to move on. As an artist, I have enjoyed writing in different genres. Just look at my books page, and you’ll see what I mean. I’ve written cozy mysteries, dystopian Christian novels, romantic suspense, Christian suspense, thriller mainstream novels, dystopian mainstream novels, a few Amish novellas, and of course–Amish novels. By my count 26 Amish romances, 9 Amish cozy mysteries, and 6 Amish novellas. I believe An Amish Widow’s New Love is my 51st release.
And, so, it does feel like it’s time to move on. I’m working closely with my fabulous agent, Leslie Sagba, to explore what might come next. Currently we’re “shopping around” a women’s fiction novel that I absolutely adore, and I hope you will too.

Ultimately, I do believe that change is healthy. When we embrace change, we grow. My hope is that my skills and what talent I have will continue to grow as I turn toward a new genre.
As my mother taught me, “never say never.” I won’t say “never” about another Amish romance, but I will say that I’m going to take a break.
Thank you for being a faithful reader. I hope you’ll continue on this journey with me and trust that I will provide you with stories that include strong characters, an engrossing plot, and above all–a sprinkle of hope.

I usually chafe at change, but then it usually turns out to be good for me. So good luck with the women’s fiction book. Hope it finds a home soon!
I’m not a fan of change either but when it comes, I try to make the best of it. I can understand your need for a writing change. That’s a lot of Amish books to write. I love your books in all the genres. I’ll look forward to whatever comes next. Best of luck to you.
While I have enjoyed and been over the moon for your Amish books, I can understand the reason for your change. I, for one, can’t wait to see where the future takes you and to read whatever you write. I know it will be a fabulous read whatever genre you write in. While I can’t wait for the opportunity to read, review and promote this upcoming release, I will also be super excitedly waiting for your next book as you travel this new adventure’s road.
Most people resist change, and I’m one of them. I love that you write Christian fiction. With the stress of life – family, friends, work, time, etc – I need the escape into a good clean book. Can’t wait to see what you write next.
I don’t like change much and I think that’s because I see it as being difficult, and who wants difficult when you could stay comfortable. I think that’s the whole thing, I want comfort.
I like temporary change: a new adventure in travel or vacation. But I like to know I will go back to my cherished home and family. I’m very attached to my heritage (though humble) and my seven decades of memories.
I applaud you for following the Lord‘s leading in your career, including having recently gone back to teaching. Such a busy lady! But you had mentioned that there was another Agatha and Tony Amish B&B book in the making and I would dearly love to see that if you plan to continue. I think those are my favorites of all your Amish books. 😊❤️
God bless you, whatever you put your hand to and keep the pictures of Texas and your hubby and your pets coming!
I’ve gone through some big changes, the past five years. It can be stressful, so I don’t always look forward to change. Your change sounds like good change, though. Best wishes (and I’m looking forward to more books)!
My last 2 years have been full of change, becoming a caretaker of 2 and losing a husband. But things are definitely different. It has been a hard change but there is still hope for better changes to come, right? Gotta have faith! I will miss your Amish books, but will keep reading whatever you write because you write a great book, no matter what genre!
Depends on the reason for the change how well I like it. I will be looking forward to the next book. Side note: that is a great picture of the two trails through the woods.
Personally I hate being stuck in a rut. Change is what keeps us out of those.
Love the image!
I have no problem with change I feel when change happens it’s for the best. So after things change I’m good.
I think sometimes change is good and it sounds like you’re needing one. I’ve read most of your books and I liked them all so I’m positive you’ll be a great writer in whatever genre you choose to write in. I’ll keep an eye out for your new books. Thanks for all the great Amish books that you have written.
Most of the time I’m not a fan of change, but this I can get behind. I was afraid you were hanging up your keyboard. A new genre or one you’ve already dabbled in could be good.
I view change as a chance to grow, or God knowing I need to grow. That being said, it isn’t easy! It always strength my faith muscle, but I get sore along the way.
I have loved all your genres, and look forward to where this new stretch takes you
I will be looking forward to a new book from you.
I understand your need for change but as an avid Amish Christian Fiction reader I will miss new books in the genre from you. I hope you decide to come back to it because I’ll be praying that you do.
Change we all have to go through it in life for God made us with all special talents. I have read and enjoyed the Cyber Division series. My Plain & Simple Miracles series has my interest. I look forward to reading more of your books.
I’m with you, change can be good and scary at the same time. I say go for it. I have loved everything I have read of yours and look forward to your next book. It’s an adventure to find something new.
For me personally, change can be difficult depending on the situation. Other times change can be just what the doctor ordered. In your case, changing your genre may be the opportunity to look forward to new things and ideas for your books. Whatever direction you decide to go, your fan base will follow and so will I!
