Saved by Grace

52 Weeks of Grace, Christian living Comments: 14

savedbygraceCan I get a witness? That’s what I’m looking for this week. Witnesses of grace. We are well into our 52 weeks of grace. We’ve talked about:

And now, I want to talk about being saved by grace. This is one of the most fundamental beliefs of a Christian–that we are saved by grace. As Paul says in the book of Ephesians,

For it is by grace you have been savedthrough faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—Ephesians 2:8

Wow. I remember when I was a young child of 10 and first began to understand what those words meant. As I struggled through my teenage and young adult years, I often came back to this truth. Changing careers, guiding our children into adulthood, dealing with illnesses and death and trying times. Celebrating and laughing and crying tears of joy. Whether good times or bad, I could always fall on this truth. It wasn’t what I did or didn’t do. It wasn’t my failures or triumphs. I was saved by grace, and that was a gift from God.

What about you? Can I get a witness?

Yes saved by grace because Jesus took our sins when he was crucified on the cross… He who knew no sin took our sins. Believe on the Lord, ask for forgiveness, and repent of your sins and you will be saved… By the grace of God, not by our works, so none can boast. Thankful I trust in the Lord for my salvation. Thank you Jesus.

I am so thankful to God that I am saved by grace. I want to always be a good person and show His love, but, there are times when I fall short. But, He loves me and by His grace, I am forgiven and saved. Praise God! 🙂

Don’t we all, Melissa. Thanks for the reminder that it’s okay to not be perfect. That’s kind of what grace is about.

When I was young I had no idea what it meant to be saved by grace. I had heard throughout our community that works were the only way to be saved or we were hell bound. Hellfire and brimstone were the teachings in that tiny village church. Praise God my parents chose not to follow that way of thinking. Saved by grace became an entirely different thought process, and I’m blessed to be saved by a loving savior!

Ephesians 2: 8-9. One of my favorite scriptures! So thankful God loved us enough to save our sorry souls so that we could have eternal fellowship with him.
