Photo #4, Summer Fun

This is our last July Photo. I can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed your comments! Remember–I post a photo and you give me a caption. Then we’ll pick one of your captions as the winner, and you can receive a book of your choice. I’ve contacted last week’s winner. Next week, I’ll post all of the photos again with the captions.

I took this photo in Cashton, Wisconsin. We had stopped by an Amish gentleman’s home, and he kindly offered to let us see the schoolhouse located on the corner of his property. His faithful dog followed us to the school and back again.

Remember to leave us a caption in the comment section.

Blessings,

I took this third photo in Shipshewana. I love everything about this photo! What you can’t see is that behind these 4 children were the parents, also on bicycles.

Photo #1, Summer Fun

I thought for the month of July we would have some fun with photos. I’ll post a photo, and you all give me a caption. Then we’ll pick one of your captions as the winner, and you can receive a book of your choice. Easy, right? I’ll also post the winner to Facebook and Pinterest.

So here we go. This first photo was taken by Don Burke. He did have permission from the Amish to take it, so no worries there. You can see more of Don’s photos here.

My First Visit to Lancaster County

I recall our first view of Amish farms in Lancaster County as my husband aimed our rental car through the valley toward the setting sun. When I was a child, my uncle raised Black Angus on a farm in New York State; I’d always thought his barn the grandest ever. Not true, I realized as my Continue reading

Amish Vacationland, U.S.A.

In the village of Pinecraft, in Sarasota, Florida, you’ll find many familiar things from “back home” in Amish country. But you’ll see many differences from most settlements. I had the chance to visit and stay in the village in January 2012 and February 2013.

During the winter, Pinecraft’s high season, it is a busy place. The men play smokin’-hot rounds of bocce in Pinecraft Park. Men and women alike play shuffleboard. The youth play volleyball or spend Continue reading

For the month of March our blog focus is going to be BOOKS. We’re very fortunate to have my friend and talented author, Kelly Irvin, stop by. She wanted to share with us a little about her latest release and then offer a give-away.

Have you ever done something, however inadvertently, that led to disaster? If you didn’t mean to do it, are you to blame for the consequences of your actions? That’s the issue I tussled with as Continue reading
