Deep Shadow READING

Christian fiction Comments: 22

I think everyone likes to be read to. When I taught high school and college, I was amazed that my older students STILL liked to be read to. So today, I thought that I’d read you the prelude of my upcoming release, Deep Shadows.

I hope you enjoyed that. If Youtube would allow me to, I’d read the entire thing to you! I imagine that file would be a bit too large.

Deep Shadows smI loved your comments last week on your pantry. Looks like I’m the only one who is lagging behind in this area. Maybe it’s my generation though. We EXPECT things to always be in abundant supply at the grocery store. Deep Shadows is about a lot more than groceries. It’s about how communities come together in times of trouble, how God provides for our needs, and how our love for one another and for Him is enough to carry us through any trouble.

THIS WEEK I’d love for you to comment with a question for me. Ask me anything you like. I’ll answer as many as I can next week, and I’ll randomly choose one person to win:

  • something that I quilted. (Think small.)
  • I’ll throw in some signed bookmarks as well and
  • a copy of A Wedding for Julia, one of my fav Amish romance books.

PS- Last week’s winner was Kay. If you’re Kay, check your email and you should find a note from me!

Announcements for this week:

  • Harvest House is giving away 10 copies of Deep Shadows on Goodreads.
  • Deep Shadows is still available for pre-order. All vendors offer a pre-order price guarantee, so if the price goes down before the item is released, you receive the lower price. **Amazon ** B&N ** CBD. Also, the paperback price is only $7.49 on CBD.
  • My June rafflecopter is going strong, and it’s easy to enter daily. Check here for details. This month’s giveaway includes a copy of Hidden, a set of quilted coasters, a Texas note card, and  a $10 Starbucks card.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to comment with a question!

The Kitchen Pantry

Christian fiction, Christian living, Healthy living, the Remnant Comments: 23

pantrySo…how is your kitchen pantry looking? How full are your shelves? Do you have a bunch of food in there? Or is it kind of bare?

This is something I thought about as I was writing my new novel, Deep Shadows (book 1 in The Remnant series). The basic storyline is that the power goes out for a long time. A really long time–like 40 years. It goes out everywhere. You’ll have to read the book so see why.

But of course that started me thinking. How prepared am I for any type of emergency? I checked out my pantry. Didn’t look too good. I mean ONE BOX of mac and cheese? It’s only 33 cents. Why do I have only one box? So I challenged myself to purchase a few extra supplies. How do you like what I bought? Deep Shadows smWe know and believe that God will care for us REGARDLESS of the circumstances around us. But part of his caring for us is providing us with resources, like an extra 33 cents to buy one more box of mac and cheese.

So tell me. How does YOUR pantry look?

PS-I’m still giving away one prize per week, so tell your friends to stop by and leave a comment. This week, I’ll give away one book from my booklist.  You choose the title and whether you’d like an ebook or print book. Last week’s winner was Betty M.

Announcements for this week:

  • Harvest House is giving away 10 copies of Deep Shadows on Goodreads.

  • My June rafflecopter is going strong, and it’s easy to enter daily. Check here for details. This month’s giveaway includes a copy of Hidden, a set of quilted coasters, a Texas note card, and  a $10 Starbucks card.

Memorial Day Moments

Christian authors, Christian fiction, Memorial Day Comments: 22

Howdy! Don’t we all love a 3 day weekend? Well, some of us are working (yikes, I’m behind). If you’re working too, fist bump me. Today I wanted to talk to you about Memorial Day. You know we’re all happy about that extra day of rest, but then it’s a solemn day too.

So how about it? Do you have some special items that remind you of loved ones? If so, comment below and tell me about them, or just comment with the name of someone you’d like to remember on this special day.

I’ll randomly choose one winner. This week I’m giving away a Project Linus blanket. (Project Linus was featured in Anna’s Healing.) This blanket is completely cool–a NO SEW fleece, and it has a military theme. I’ll send it to one lucky person along with some signed bookmarks from me.

The Office Space

Christian authors, Christian fiction, The Writing Life Comments: 29

How’s everyone doing? I hope you’re enjoying these blogs (and Vlogs) from my back porch. Actually, today’s is from my office, but the point is to have an informal, laid-back conversation between us. I loved your comments and very much enjoyed reading about your fav flowers on last week’s post!

This week I wanted to give you a little tour of my office. (If you’re receiving this blog via email, you probably have to click on the title and go to my sight to see the video.)

My office was actually my son’s bedroom until I told him I needed it. He moved out to an apartment and the rest is history! It’s a small room, as you’ll see in the video, probably 10 feet by 10 feet. Kind of plain and simple, but it works for me. What about you? Do you have a special place in your house where you work or craft? For a while, mine was the dining room table! Leave a comment describing YOUR SPOT, and we’ll pull a winner for a free book. (Last week’s winner was Kimberly T.)

Announcements for this week:

  • Shelley Shepard Gray and I will be meting for our Girlfriends Getaway in Charm, OH. If you’re going, I’m looking forward to meeting you! If you can’t come–we’ll be having on-line prizes for those who follow us on Facebook and twitter.
  • Deep Shadows is now available for pre-order. This is the first book in my new dystopian series. Don’t know what dystopian is? Read my blog post at the Diamond Mind of Christian Fiction. You can now pre-order Deep Shadows. All vendors offer a pre-order price guarantee, so if the price goes down before the item is released, you receive the lower price. **Amazon ** B&N ** CBD.
  • My May rafflectopter giveaway is live through 6-22, and it’s easy to enter daily. Check here for details. This month’s giveaway includes something I picked up in Shipshewana, a $10 Starbucks card and more!

Time to turn off the computer and head to the back porch. Bob’s waiting for me with both dogs. I hope you enjoyed today’s video, and I’d love to hear about YOUR fav spot. Leave a comment on the blog, and I’ll draw a winner to receive a complimentary copy of the book of your choice from my book list.

Blessings,

from the back porch

Christian fiction, The Writing Life Comments: 21

Howdy!

I’m writing today’s blog from the back porch. In Texas, the back porch is where important things happen–it’s where we sip sweet tea, watch the dear, talk to family, and meet with friends. It’s where we go when we need quiet time, devotional time, prayer time. My husband pointed out that we don’t technically have a back porch. We have a back deck, but it’s the same thing in my opinion. My video starts in the back yard and ends up at the deck, where I do my sitting, resting, praying, even working.

Announcements for this week:

  • An Amish Cradle is $1.99 (ebook only) May 2nd-May 8th. ** Amazon ** B&N ** CBD
  • Shelley Shepard Gray and I are finalizing plans for our Girlfriends Getaway in Charm, OH. If you’re interested in attending, but haven’t made your reservation, email Laurie at Laurie4ssg@gmail.com.
  • Deep Shadows is now available for pre-order. This is the first book in my new dystopian series. Don’t know what dystopian is? Read the blurb for Deep Shadows here. For Amazon, the pre-order price is guaranteed, so if the price goes down before the item is released, you receive the lower price. **Amazon ** B&N ** CBD.
  • My May rafflectopter giveaway is now live. Check here for details. This week’s giveaway includes something I picked up in Shipshewana, a $10 Starbucks card and more!

Time to close down the computer and just enjoy sitting on the back porch. I hope you enjoyed today’s video, and I’d love to hear about YOUR back porch, or wherever you go to relax. Leave a comment on the blog, and I’ll draw a winner to receive a complimentary copy of the book of your choice from my book list.

Blessings,
