Harvest House Publishers

Amish fiction, Harvest House Publishers Comments: 6

I had the pleasure of visiting my publisher Harvest House in Eugene, Oregon this week. What a fun time! I thought I’d share with you a few things I learned while there.

Harvey the Harvest House dog (owned by HH president Bob Hawkins, Jr.) sometimes comes to the office to spend the day. As you can see, he has his special spot to rest, and he’s not camera shy.

The folks at Harvest House were quite welcoming, even though I must have interrupted their day. It was a load of fun to see my books sitting beside the work of people I truly admire.

I did not know that HH now has coloring books! Isn’t that fun? And there are more coming. While there, I was able to meet with lots of folks who help to make a release a success–from the design department to the ebook division to the foreign rights division. (I learned my books are in several countries overseas, including Australia and England.) We also had a book club meeting to discuss Anna’s Healing, and I was so inspired that I think I may start a bookclub here in my town!

I’m grateful to have the opportunity to work for such a fine publishing house. Now it’s your turn. Do you have any questions about publishers? I might not know the answer, but I’d be happy to give it a try!

Blessings,

V

V – That’s wonderful that you enjoyed your time with Harvest House. I’ve seen some of their coloring books, and they’re beautiful! I just helped form a book club here on the West side of Grand Rapids, and we’re really enjoying each other and look forward to sharing the various books that we may read. So far we’ve only read one, and working on #2. It’s wonderful that you arrived home with your spirits high and feeling so positive!

I need to order some of those coloring books for Christmas gifts. Thanks for the reminder, Nancee!

Wondering IF they make the final cover decisions, or IF U get to make suggestions, or sometimes select your own? So glad that we had wonderful weather while u were here. Saw on the news that TX is having terrible rainstorms again. Hope you are safe!

They show me a rough draft of sorts, and then usually I say “I love it!” But the last two covers I did ask if we could change parts and they were so gracious about it. They’re really wonderful to work with. (ps – the rains have been much needed where I am, and yes – we’re fine.)
